1. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (GOB) will provide fund from the Operating Budget towards the cost of Consultancy Services for Inspection, Data collection, Condition Evaluation and Data Entry of Bridges & Culverts of Dhaka Zone and Mymensingh Zone into Bridge Management System (BMS) of Roads and Highways Department. This service will pave the way to build a comprehensive database of bridges/culverts under RHD. The objective of this specific service is to establish a database of bridges/culverts for these two zones. 2. SCOPE OF SERVICES Bridge Inspection is the engineering assessment of the physical condition of a Bridge to determine necessary remedial measures such as maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, replacement etc. The distresses of Bridges/Culverts will be investigated as per Bridge Inspection and Evaluation Manual available at RHD Website or Office of the Undersigned. Some major scopes are Conduct Bridge/Culvert Inspection including Collection of Basic Data of Structures, Condition Inventory with the application of Video and still photography following the existing manuals and using certain Inspection tools and vehicles may be required . Verify collected data and prepare a complete Bridge Inventory in both hard and soft copy. Input of verified Data into BMS Server. Investigate vulnerable bridges from the priority list in detail as per requirement of the client, conduct destructive and non-destructive tests if necessary. Prepare design of repair/retrofitting, estimation of the repair/retrofitting work for selected bridges from the priority list. However the scopes are not limited to above description rather than it will be covered by Term of Reference (ToR) of the service.
